Craigslist Ad Helps Fresno Deputies Make Arrest

Posted:

Fresno, CA- The online classifieds site, Craigslist, helped Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies crack a case Monday.

The case revolved around the theft of an antique buggy, from a locked shop on N. Hayes Ave over the weekend.

During the investigation, deputies asked the victim to try and search for the buggy, believed to be worth of $3,000, on Craigslist to see if anyone was trying to sell it.

The victim located the buggy on the online site and quickly alerted officers.

Deputies had the victim contact the seller and set up a location as to where to meet to see the buggy. The victim did as told, and met up with a man, identified as 49-year-old Harold Scott Ball, at Nielsen and Marks.

The victim told Ball he was interested in buying the buggy, but needed to get the money from the bank. He left the scene and called deputies to confirm that Ball did indeed have the stolen property.

Deputies then arrived at the Nielsen and Marks location and arrested Ball.

Ball was then booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of possessing stolen property.
