Corcoran State Prison On Lockdown

Corcoran State Prison remains on lockdown, following a stabbing which occurred this week.

Officials say a female correctional officer was stabbed on Tuesday at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, which is on the same land as the prison.

The officer was stabbed by a male inmate, who was using what is being described as a "manufactured weapon." The inmate is said to have been a level 4 maximum security prisoner.

The officer has since been released from the hospital, and is expected to be okay. The inmate has been placed in administrative segregation.

Despite the fact that the incident occurred at the Abuse Treatment Facility, all seven yards of the complex was put on lockdown. The lockdown means there will be no visitations, phone calls or recreation for the inmates.

It is not yet known what caused the stabbing.
