Fresno Security Guard Killed At Apartment Complex

Posted:

A Fresno Security Guard is the latest homicide victim in the City of Fresno.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer confirmed on Friday the man was killed at an apartment complex, located on the 2700 Block of E. Weldon Avenue.

According to Dyer, police were dispatched to the apartment complex Thursday evening around 9:42 p.m. for reports of a person on the floor of the complex. When officers arrived they located 59-year-old Albert Rodriguez, suffering from injuries from an assault.

Rodriguez was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Dyer says investigators believe the assault occurred while the man was walking through the complex. No suspects have been identified in the case at this time.

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to call Homicide Detective Marcus Gray at 621-2441, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.

Rodriguez's death is the 39th homicide for this year; at this time last year there were 37 homicides.
