Thousands of people filled Valley movie theatres Thursday night to catch the "New Moon" premiere.
At Edwards Theater in River Park, chants of "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" were heard on every corner as movie-goes spent hours waiting to see the long-awaited release from the "Twilight" series.
"It's just so exciting," said Marissa Rendon who had been waiting in line since 7 a.m. Rendon had high hopes for the film, "It has to be better, it's the second movie."
Officials for Edwards Theater said 2,500 people packed the theater for the sold-out midnight show, and that trend followed across the country.
The Summit Entertainment film is said to have sold out hundreds of midnight screenings nationwide weeks before its Friday opening, with Fandango reporting more than 1,000 sold Thursday midnight shows.
The movie is based on the popular book written by Stephanie Meyer, a book many fans brought to premiere, along with their "Team Jacob" and "Team Edward" shirts of course.
