32-year-old Lupe NietoAn officer involved shooting occurred Thursday morning in Southeast Fresno, in the area of Lewis and Willow, just south of Olive Avenue.
Two men, identified as 32-year-old Lupe Nieto and 18-year-old Martin Espinosa, were both shot in the incident.
It all began in Clovis just after 7:30 a.m., when someone saw one of the men brandishing a weapon.
Police chased both men through the streets of Clovis, Northeast Fresno and Southeast Fresno. The driver reached speeds of approximately 60 mph.
The pursuit ended just before 8:15 a.m., at Lewis and Willow, when both men got out of the car. Early reports indicate the both suspects were shot by a Clovis Police Officer for reasons not disclosed at this time.
Both suspects were taken to Community Regional Medical Center; their conditions have not been released.
Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies are now investigating the officer involved shooting, since it occurred in a county island.
Deputies say that Nieto will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, terrorist threats, and evading arrest.
Meanwhile Espinosa is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
