Double Fatal Accident Causes Traffic Delays On Highway 41

A double fatal accident has delayed, and shut down traffic on part of Highway 41.

The accident occurred around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, off the 41 and 200 near O'Neils.

According to officers, two people in a Hyundai had been driving northbound when they drifted off the road, hit a rock, and rolled upside down before being hit by a truck.

Both people inside the Hyundai were killed; the driver of the truck suffered moderate injuries. The victims have only been identified as an 85 -year-old woman and 89-year-old man who live in Coarsegold.

The accident caused both directions of SR 41 closed in the area. This includes the northbound lanes at the 145, and the southbound lanes at the 200.

No estimated time has been given on when the lanes will reopen.
