FRESNO - Just after ten Saturday night, Fresno Police were called to this apartment complex in the 2000 block of West Shields to the report of a shooting.

When they got there, they found four people suffering from gunshot wounds.

"It wasn't really loud, it wasn't a big gun or anything. It was like, pop, pop, pop, pop, we thought it was like fireworks almost," Robert Armstrong said.

Armstrong ran out of his apartment and found the body of 38-year-old Arthur Solario lying in the alley.

Solario was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

"They came down and he came through the back and they thought he was a part of it and they shot him," Armstrong said.

Officers say the shooting happened after someone got in a fight with people who were attending a party at one of the apartments.

Shots were fired here, and three were hit.

Police say their injuries were minor.

"There was a second shooting and this is where victim Solario was shot," Detective Tony Bennink said.

Officers say people were running in several directions, including into the alley.

Arthur Solario was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"He was just walking through the alley after returning from the grocery store," Bennink said.

Police are now trying to figure out why the shooting happened, and who pulled the trigger.

Robert Armstrong is still in the process of moving in to his new place.

He says he plans to stay.

"Hopefully we can clean some things up for the kids and stuff. It's not really bad where we're at. It's just that alley, it has its own history," Armstrong said.

Fresno police say the shooting may be gang-related.
