There's some good news for homeowners.
New figures are showing the number of homeowners, on the brink of losing their homes, fell last month.
The firm RealtyTrac is reporting a third straight monthly decline.
The drop is credited to foreclosure prevention programs, that have been coming to the rescue of more borrowers.
Despite the decrease, the firm says a lot of work still needs to be done. Foreclosure filings are still up 19% from this time last year. Currently one in every 385 homes nationwide received a foreclosure–related notice last month.
Across the Central Valley the numbers are still high.
RealtyTrac reports California, Florida, Illinois and Michigan as the states hit the hardest by the foreclosure crisis. Seven of the 10 metropolitan areas suffering most are here in California.
