The holiday's are just around the corner, and Clovis Police want to help protect you and your belongings this year.
Police are cautioning residents about a recent rash of burglaries over the last five weeks. Already 170 people have called officers to report burglaries this year, a number down slightly from last year.
Police say no area is immune to being burglarized and that burglars will target where they see an opportunity.
The Clovis Police Department is offering the following tips to help prevent you from becoming a victim this year:
Police say the suspects in the most recent burglaries are smashing windows to get into cars, as well as popping door locks, prying open doors, or getting in because people left their cars unlocked.
The items being stolen include purses, briefcases, wallets, laptops, credit cards, cameras, iPods, cell phones, GPS systems, stereos, XM satellite radio systems, sporting equipment, tools and jewelry.
Police are asking residents who may see suspicious activity in their neighborhood to call Clovis Police Dispatch at 324-2800 or 9-1-1.
