Two people, with ties to a Mexican Drug Cartel, are behind bars-thanks to the Madera County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff John Anderson announced the arrest of 32-year-old Felipe Morales Rios and 24-year-old Ivan Francisco Soto Torres on Friday.
According to Anderson, the arrests occurred after a several month investigation into drug trafficking in which the two men transported Heroin from Fresno to Madera to sell.
Following their arrests, agents with the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team (MADNET)served search warrants at three locations in Fresno where they discovered 8.2 lbs of Black Tar Heroin, cash which is believed to be proceeds from drug sales, and two vehicles.
MADNET agents believe the two men had been involved in the drug trade for a least a year.
Both men have been booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections where bail has been set for them both at $1 million each.
Agents say Torres is a convicted felon, who was last sentenced in 2006 for selling Heroin.
