Lockdown Lifted At Fresno School

Posted:

A lockdown at Vinland Elementary School has been lifted.

The school had been on lockdown since 7:30 am because of police activity in the area.

Police were searching for a suspect, identified as 33-year-old Florentino Osuna, who ran off with a gun during a traffic stop. Osuna ran through neighborhoods and wound up hiding in the house of someone he knew.

Police say the Osuna even tried to change his appearance, by cutting and shaving his head hair.

He was later found and taken into custody. His gun was found in a separate location by police.

Susan Bedi with Fresno Unified says that all students and teachers were safe throughout the lockdown, and held in either their classrooms or in the school cafeteria.
