Madera Thieves Arrested After Answering Stolen Cell Phone

Posted:

Madera, CA- Two Madera teens are behind bars, thanks in part to their victim.

Madera Sheriff's Deputies say the two boys, identified as 19-year-old Tyler Brundage and a unidentified juvenile,  broke into a car stealing the victim's cell phone and stereo.

After filling out a burglary report with police, the clever victim took matters into her on hands and called the missing phone.

The two teens answered the phone, claiming it had been sold to them, and then told the victim they were willing to give it back to her.....for a price.

The victim agreed to meet up with the thieves, and headed to the location with Madera Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Thomas, Detectives Nick Davis and Zack Zamudio in tow.

As the transaction went down, Deputies appeared and took both boys into custody.

Brundage was taken to the Madera County Department of Corrections where he was booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property, probation violation, and is also facing a third charge - contributing to the delinquency of a minor. No bail has been set for him.

The juvenile As for the 15-year old was taken to Juvenile Hall where he was booked on drug charges after a crack pipe was found in his possession.

The incident was bittersweet for the victim; she got her cell phone back, but her car stereo is still missing.
