A staff member at Buhach Colony High School in Atwater has been arrested for misconduct.
According to Atwater Police, Ernest Cota was arrested after a student claimed he allegedly propositioned her to engage in illicit activity.
The incident occurred early last week, with Cota being arrested on Friday.
Officers say they arrested Cota after obtaining evidence which corroborated the teen's claims. He has since been booked into the Merced County Jail on misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child under 18.
Cota had worked at Buhach Colony High School since 2002 serving as the Community/School Resource Liaison.
Officers are asking anyone with more information on this case to contact Det. Armando Echevarria at (209) 357-6395.
