There's new info in the tragic case of a 17-month old Delhi toddler mauled to death by a pit bull.
Sheriff's Deputies confirmed on Tuesday that the 65 lb pit bull did not belong to the toddler's babysitter, rather she had just been watching it for a week for her future in-law's.
Colton Smith was killed last Friday when the 65 lb pit bull attacked him, grabbing him by the throat. He had been at his babysitter's house at the time of the incident.
A preliminary autopsy was released Tuesday which confirmed that Smith's death was a result of loss of blood due to a puncture wound to the subclavian artery.
The dog, "Max" remains in quarantine until the investigation is complete.
Sheriff's Deputies say there are no plans to arrest the babysitter at this time. The case however will be sent to the D.A.'s office.
The Pit Bull, "Max", will remain in quarantine until the investigation is completed and reviewed.
