An autopsy will be performed Tuesday on the 17 month old Delhi boy mauled to death by a dog last Friday.

Merced County Sheriff's investigators say little Colton Smith died after his babysiters 65 pound pit bull locked his jaws around the child's throat.  The babysitter reportedly had to jab the dog with a fork to free the boy.

After a frantic 9-1-1 call and erratic drive for help, Smith was airlifted to Children's Hospital Central California in Madera, where he later died.

A Merced Sheriff's Department spokesperson says they have no plans at this time to arrest the babysitter but will forward all findings to the Merced District Attorney's office.
