At Bentley's Market at Fort Washington and Friant, shoppers are bagging some serious bargains.
"I just came here for the deals and the 40% off the groceries," Bob Desch said.
Desch is one of many here for the deals that come at a big price for the store.
"A lot of blood, sweat and tears through the years went into it. There's definitely some emotion," Bentley's part-owner, Rick Hutcheson said.
Hutcheson says, after three years on Fresno's north side, the market is closing its doors.
"I think it's typical of what's going on. A lot of people are losing their jobs, so they're changing habits and stuff like that. So it's a really tough business climate," Hutcheson said.
"It's sad when somebody tries something different and it's doesn't work out," Laird Durley, who was taking advantage of the last minute deals, said.
Durley says he shopped at Bentley's occasionally, but couldn't pass up 40% off everything in the store and 25% off alcohol.
"I feel a little like a buzzard out here scavenging. You feel a little responsible that you didn't shop here more to keep it going," Durley said.
It's the latest casualty in a string of setbacks for the Riverview Shopping Center in northeast Fresno.
In the last two months, both the Red Door restaurant and Bentley's Bistro have closed down.
"It will definitely hurt this shopping area. It's not going to help things. It's kind of sad to see so many stores closing right now," Desch said.
"I think it's a great center. I think it's very well done. The clientele that visits this center is certainly one we've enjoyed for the last few years. I just think that possibly there's not enough of them in the area, I don't know," Hutcheson said.
But is this really the end of Bentleys forever?
"I would never say never. But I would probably say doing research for a while. Just holding off. It's gonna take a whole to deal with the closing of the store," Hutcheson said.
Bentley's be open from 9am to 6 pm all this week or until everything is sold.
They also say someone has shown interest in the store.
And it could eventually open up again under a different name.
