Yosemite Park Officials say nearby fires won't prevent them from keeping the national park open over the Labor Day weekend.
Park Officials say the park will remain open despite it's proximity to the still-burning "Meadow Fire" in Mariposa County.
The Meadow Fire has been burning for around a week, destroying approximately 7, 240 acres. The fire is now 70% contained, but remains most active near the northern flank approaching the Tioga Road near Tamarack Flat and in the upper Crane Creek drainage.
According to park officials, all campgrounds in the park will remain open over the holiday weekend, with the exception of Crane Flat Campground and Tamarack Flat Campground.
Visitors to the park should expect some road closures. The Big Oak Flat Road is closed to through traffic at the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station to the junction of the El Portal Road. In addition, the Tioga Road remains closed to through traffic from White Wolf to the Crane Flat Gas Station.
Drivers can access the park through Highway 140 and Highway 41.
