A missing hiker, thought lost in the mountains of Eastern Fresno County, has been found safe.
48-year-old Wayne Richard Morgan was discovered Wednesday afternoon by citizens near the Pine Creek trailhead in Inyo County.
Morgan had been reported missing on Tuesday morning, after he failed to return from a 10 day hike. Morgan, who hails from Riverside, set out on his hike on July 18th at Mosquito Flats in Inyo County, but made plans to visit several places within Fresno County.
Since the missing persons report came in, 12 deputies and 3 volunteers, along with the Eagle One Helicopter, spearheaded a search for Morgan. The search focused on the 100 square mile area near the Pacific Crest Trail.
After he was found, deputies say Morgan refused a ride to his vehicle preferring to hike the final portion of the trail to his vehicle.
