The protest voices are growing louder in Kings County. People in Kettleman City want answers to what's behind an unusual cluster of birth defects.
Protestors in the tiny Kings County community on highway 41 waved signs and made noise.
They say five babies born to Kettleman City residents between September 2007 and November 2008 had birth defects and three died later.
Protestors also want to halt the proposed expansion of the Waste Management hazardous waste landfill.
On Friday Kings County Health officials said a cluster of birth defects does exist but added it may be unrelated to environmental exposure.
Waste Management spokesperson Kit Cole says the company has strongly encouraged the public health officials and experts at all levels local, state and federal to get involved with the situation in Kettleman City.
Meantime demonstrators say their mission is to keep making noise until they find ut what's behind the birth defect cluster.
