A Fresno man is behind bars facing gun and drug charges, after he was found to have taken several firearms on an Amtrak train Wednesday.
According the Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims, her department received info that 28-year-old Jeffery Mikel Carrillo was onboard a Southbound Amtrak train in possession of stolen firearms.
Deputies contacted Amtrak with the information and arranged to have the train stop in Laton, near the Kings River, where deputies would be waiting to arrest Carrillo.
At the time of the stop, deputies boarded the train, and found Carrillo who was in possession of two handguns that had been loaded and concealed in a pack he was carrying. Deputies then found four more handguns, one with the serial numbers ground off, from another bag belonging to Carrillo.
In that same bag deputies found drugs including several bottles of Oxycotin and Morphine tablets.
Deputies arrested Carrillo without and booked into the Fresno County Jail. Following the arrest, the Amtrak train continued its route to Bakersfield.
